I am sending this out as an F.Y.I.. I am not currently a pilot, but I hope to be soon. I live in the same town (in the St. Louis, MO metro area) as Tom Huebbe did, but I never got the pleasure to meet Tom, but he has been a huge inspiration to me over the years. Tom had a large influence, and great respect in the Sonex, the VW powered aircraft, EAA Chapter 32, and experimental aircraft groups. I am sending this, as I am sure that some of you may have had interactions with Tom over the years, and would want to know. According to John, Tom's son (who posted his account of the off field landing on the Sonex message board), it sounds like the off field landing went well, until near the end, when the plane unexpectedly flipped upside down.
